Mom’s the Word!

What an amazing thing motherhood is! The perceptions of what it means to give birth and nurture are so diverse!

FOR EXAMPLE:

This Mom…a comedian by the name of Anita Renfroe…condensed  a 24 hour day of mothering into a 3 MINUTE song!
Take a look at this and see how many “traditionally accepted” sayings YOU use…

On the other end of the spectrum (in other words…NOT funnny)…twice last week I ran across a non-profit by the name of The Trampled Rose .  To my AMAZEMENT it was founded and run by Rebekah Kiser. Rebekah and I were on the Colorado Women’s Economic Deveopment Council together and I was so in AWE of her that I asked her to come down and do a “Ladie’s Night Out” with us when I was President of the Pueblo Business Women’s Network. At the time, she was telling us stories of her trips to Africa, helping people become ENTREPRENEURS. While in Ethiopia, she met a woman with Fistula.

The World Health Organization says Fistula is “the single most dramatic aftermath of neglected CHILDBIRTH”. Apparently when the blood flow is blocked during childbirth, it can cause a tear in the bladder or rectum through which bodily waste leaks and causes a bad smell and other cultural beliefs, so these Moms are CAST OUT into the streets with NOTHING.

Rebekah’s org has created homes for them, fed them, taught them basic education & business skills and show them love while they await surgery as well as the recovery time afterwards. If you read her BLOG, you’ll LAUGH & CRY all at the same time. This is ONE GUTZY WOMAN and I hope to bring her stories to you once again soon! FEEL FREE to DONATE to such a worthy, motherly cause.

The third “Mom” thing is about NOT having babies  and how that opens up a whole new world of equality and human expression.

I listened to Marianne Williamson talk with futurist Barbara Marx Hubbard, two of my MOST FAVORITE WOMEN in the whole wide world, on the XM Satellite Radio channel 156  Oprah & Friends, about embracing new energy and life after menopause. You’d LOVE the way Barbara describes the “rebirth” of  menopausal women’s lives in that they are RE-energizing the evolution of human beings.  It gives me such a positive perspective on the POSSIBILITIES!

In the meantime, the whole menopause thing is really quite HUMOROUS and EMPOWERING if you open up to it!

In fact the VERY FIRST babyboomer woman applied for Social Security a couple of days ago, which opens up the flood gates!

The MOVEMENT is SO STRONG that the entertainment world is cashing in on the “Red Hat Ladies” with many new musicals. I thoroughly ENJOYED one of them in Denver just recently in celebration of “Mother’s Day” with my Mom and her sister. Take a look
