GutZy Women Trying Out New Video Software…Vaio Movie Story

Do you ever try out new software that comes with a new computer?

If you’re like me, then you probably just stick with what you know, get the work done that you need to, and tell yourself you’ll try the new stuff when you get a chance. Do you find that “chance” very rarely shows up? Yeah, me too…

Until yesterday when I decided to try the video template software that Vaio so kindly placed within my computer.

You may have seen some of the videos I made using the “Flip” templates. I REALLY LOVE my flip, but I find the templates are pretty limiting, so when I took on the job for a friend of shooting action shots of her kids playing softball, I was on the lookout for something other than Muvee (the company that makes the software for the “Flip”).

Sometimes I use Window’s Movie Maker, but that didn’t excite me, so I actually was surprised to find a software fromVaio just sitting there and decided to try it. They have created some very cool templates, complete with special effects and music, so I got all excited and started to play.

Frustration took over when I realized that the only way I was going to get it to work right was to upload one picture at a time and recreate the movie over and over again. It took me HOURS!

Another problem I had was that the template panned the pictures so that the focus ended up being on the kids bodies rather than their heads and faces. I did then try to find just the right shots, but WHAT A PAIN!

Don’t you just hate it when these companies create software that is supposedly made for non-professionals which are easy and fast to use, but they end up being more of a hinderance than a help?

I would LOVE to hear about your experiences with video software, what works well, what’s easy and fast and FUN!

What the Heck is a Thin Air Summit? How About if You Tell Us.

Add to Technorati Favorites

Obviously it’s something that has to do with thin air, but what?

Take your best shot with this multiple choice quiz:

A. Spiritual gurus on a mountain summit manifesting cool things out of thin air?

B. Altitude sickness sufferers collectively test a new inhaler that works in the thin air of the mountains?

C. Experienced climbers gather to brainstorm ways to lessen the affects of thin air in order to reach the summit?

D. None of the above.

Trick question, actually, because it’s a bit of all three …

But before you continue reading the article, I would LOVE to hear YOUR first guess as to what is a Thin Air Summit? Come on, be creative! Could be fun.

In truth, The Thin Air Summit is the evolutionary outcome of an eclectic group of new media enthusiasts originally coming together to plan a “Podcamp.” But just as new technology and media morphs at the speed of light, so has the nature of this event , scheduled to happen in November 2008 in (drum roll please…) DENVER, COLORADO (Thin Air…get it?)

So what is a Podcamp? How is it different than a “New Media Conference”?A PodCamp is a usually a free “BarCamp-style” community UnConference (which just means an “unorganized conference,” shortened to the word UnConference.) for new media enthusiasts and professionals including bloggers, podcasters, YouTubers, social networkers, and ANYONE curious about new media.

A BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering of people born from the desire of each to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants.

The first PodCamp was held September 8-10, 2006 in Boston, Massachusetts. They’re now being held regularly all over the world, so they’ve proven to be quite popular events.

PodCamps aren’t just about podcasting.(I know…this gets confusing, with alll these new terms, so bare with me).If you’re interested in blogging, social media, social networking, podcasting, video on the net, audio, or you’re just curious about new media and how you can use it in YOUR endeavors, you definately want get involved.

If you’re eyes glazed over when you read those terms, it’s OK, you aren’t alone.

You just haven’t read up on some of my other articles or watched my videos yet. It’s all there in short and simple, easy to understand articles. Hey, It’s important to your future success, especially if you run a  business or compete for donation dollars.

Then when you feel a bit more confident and don’t want to sit on the sidelines any more, please join in.

When Patti Serrano invited me to join her in crashing the Denver party and after a couple of “meetups” I’ve met some very “media savvy” men and women who will become incredible resources for me, as well as those I serve.

OK, so what makes the Thin Air Summit different than a Podcamp is that it has morphed into a “real conference” as opposed to an “Unconference” (an “unplanned” conference is now been shortened to the word: Unconference).

In other words , it IS an organized event  which will include experts in their fields to give primarily EDUCATIONAL presentations divided up into 3 different tracks: text, audio and video . The individual sessions will provide practical information relevant to creating better content in that particular medium.

They’re also planning some panel discussions. The panels will bring all three tracks together and be focused on new media topics that are relevant to all – both the practical, such as monetization, and the philosophical, such as “What is New Media and Why is it Important”.

So what’s in it for GutZy Women (or Brave Men ) like you?

Many of you might experience a fear or frustration when it comes to technology and multimedia marketing. The first step to getting over it is education. The next step is taking what you have learned and implementing it.

Sometimes, we need a little handholding, mentoring, inspiration and support in actually taking the action necessary to move forward.

The Thin Air Summit will be an UNBELIEVABLY VALUABLE place to be to learn, be inspired, connect, ask for help and the price is definitely right…LIKE FREE?

If the organizers hear from you powerful women and Enlightened Men out there who believe it’s important to include a greatly diverse bunch of qualified presenters, If you DO feel that way, there just might be a good showing of well qualified women speakers on stage at the event. :)

So forget all those expensive, overdone conferences that make your cash vanish into Thin Air! Rise to the Summit challenge. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone even if you feel it’s going to be too “techie” for you.

Events like this are a great opportunity to network with people who can teach you, mentor you and learn from you as well. As a matter of fact, the organizers are now in the process of looking for great presenters. Maybe you’re one?

In the mean time, what’s  your version of what the Thin Air Summit could be? Let’s hear your ideas in the comments down below… (Let’s keep it clean, OK?)

7 GutZy Women Ways to Make Money with Free Giveaway Events

Here are 7 ways to make money with FREE Giveaway Events:

1. Become an affiliate of those who are selling products on the giveaway.

2. Once you get new people to subscribe, you can promote your products or services for them to buy, through email campaigns and relationship building activities.

3. After people subscribe, but before they reach your gift page, you can make them a onetime offer, but if you do this, be sure to give them the option to pass and to be able to download the free gift after they buy

4. When you send them the Thank You page or email, once they have retrieved their gift, you can offer them either the same product at a lower price or offer a brand new product.

5. You can follow up with a series of automatic messages with valuable tips and information without actually making them an offer, but the intent to build relationships. Once they learn who you are and how great your products are, they will naturally want to buy from you.

6. Co-promote with JV Partners in the Giveaway itself, like I did with the GutZy Women International Mastermind Alliance. Be sure to become an affiliate of theirs and send traffic their way using your affiliate link.

7. Run a Giveaway yourself: offer dollar incentives to contributors to upgrade their positioning on the pages of the giveaway. Get them to promote the product offered for sale by you in an affiliate arrangement. Offer services like consulting or webmastering to help your contributors who don’t have the time or skills or desire to do the work themselves.

These are just a few ideas you can use to make money while giving your product or services away. We would LOVE to hear more ideas from you if you have experienced success at using them in giveaway events!

11 Steps to Successful List Building and Increased Visibility using Giveaway Events – Part 2

Add to Technorati Favorites

If you have taken part as a recipient of any FREE products or services as a result of an online GIVEAWAY EVENT, then obviously you saw some value in agreeing to give out your name and email address in exchange. Thousands and perhaps millions of other people have done same and rightly so!

In one shot, without spending tons of valuable time and energy, you get incredibly informative and valuable stuff for FREE…all in one place.

Sure, our privacy is important to us, and while we’re NOT open to just ANYTHING, we like to get stuff we can really use for free, right? “The price was right”, we like to say.

Once we recieve it and check it out, we’re either thrilled with it or sadly disappointed. If we’re thrilled, aren’t we going to follow that person or company in the future to look for more good stuff? Hey, maybe we’ll even spring a few dollars next time because now we know what the contributor is about and we like what we see.

Well, that’s the basic premise behind GIVEAWAYS and why they are so popular, as well as why software developers are creating software programs to run them and why internet marketers are getting the word out.

In my previous article, I outlined the first 6 steps for how Free Giveaway Events actually work because they can be a bit confusing, and NOT just for “newbies”. Here’s the rest of the story:

7. On the contributor’s end, they must have a way to capture their visitor’s information as well. Although the giveaway link can send them to an email message to be sent off to the contributor, the best way in the long run is to set up an auto-responder system that automatically send the information from the capture form the visitor filled out to a database. An autoresponder then sends an immediate email message back to the visitor.

8. If it is a “double opt-in” system, the visitor will get a “confirmation email” with a link they click on to “OK” their subscription. This option is designed to verify that visitor does in fact want the gift and further contact from the contributor and reduces the risk of getting slapped for Spamming.

If they don’t “confirm”, the visitor doesn’t get the free gift. If they DO confirm, they are then taken to the page where they can collect or download their gift OR they are sent a second “Thank You” email that contains a link to the giveaway item(s) as well as other information that is needed to collect. This email very often includes other links to websites or other products they can buy. (This is a great way to “monetize” the promotion.)
